Amale Freiha Khlat, Through the Fourth Wall

Amale Freiha Khlat is a Lebanese British visual artist, questioning the role of the images and its dissemination as well as the role of the spectators.

Through The Fourth Wall

Through the fourth wall is my end of year thesis which aims to explore further the dissemination of space between spectators, the performance and the proscenium, both from a long distance view and a close up angle. Can the fourth wall, the barrier of the screen in cinema, TV and mobile phones, be crossed or destroyed?

This research helped me better understand the importance of theatrical space, real space and their elasticity. Theatre becomes the backdrop to witnessing executions, the mise en scene and staging of the news. Is theatre agreeing with the fake or is its trickery unfolding the truth?
